Ibrahim Ali Khan calls Sarzameen co-star Prithviraj Sukumaran `real superstar`

Sarzameen stars Prithviraj Sukumaran as Vijay Menon – a man torn between a father’s love and a soldier’s duty, Kajol as Meher – a mother who fights against all olds to keep her family intact, and Ibrahim Ali Khan as Harman –  a vulnerable young man caught at crossroads. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Kayoze Irani and is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, and Apoorva Mehta under the banner of Dharma Productions. At its heart, Sarzameen is a powerful tribute to the spirit of the nation, exploring themes of sacrifice, fractured loyalties, and the emotional weight of choosing between blood ties and a higher calling. The trio brings to life a family that is torn apart by the secrets of the past. The film will be available on JioHotstar in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

Ibrahim Ali Khan on working with industry veterans

Reflecting on his time on set, Ibrahim shared how surreal it felt to work alongside two of the industry’s finest. Playing Harman, a character layered with vulnerability, inner conflict, and suppressed emotions pushed him out of his comfort zone. The first day came with its fair share of nerves, but what followed was a journey of steady growth, comfort, and learning.  Watching Kajol and Prithviraj up close became a masterclass in performance and presence.

When asked about collaborating with them in such emotionally charged scenes, Ibrahim Ali Khan shared his experience,“It was honestly a great learning experience seeing them do their work up close, they are phenomenal- it was a roller coaster of being nervous on day 1 to settling in and really enjoying it. Prithvi sir is immensely helpful and so warm to work with. That’s a real superstar there. Kajol ma’am is always herself and so natural as an actor, a true veteran of Indian cinema. Grateful to have worked with these amazing stars.”

Kayoze Irani on Ibrahim Ali Khan rising beyond trolls

Sarzameen was supposed to mark Ibrahim`s debut as he shot for this film first before Nadaaniyan. However, due to injuries in the team, the film got delayed.  “I believe Ibrahim has done an exceptional job in this film. This genre suits him so well. The character was sculpted for him, and he fits beautifully. Come July 25, I’m excited for him to answer his critics.,” says a confident Irani.

Reflecting on the criticism that followed Ibrahim’s debut film, Irani is candid. “It gave people a lot of happiness to troll him. But when you`re on the receiving end, you know how it feels. I was talking to him through all of it. I know the director and crew of that film too and they were heartbroken.”

“No one sets out to make a bad film. Everyone goes out with the best intentions. But people are allowed a mistake and they bounce back.”
