Adivi Sesh opens up about managing the dual role of writing and acting

From Kshanam (2016) to Goodachari (2018), from Major (2022) to his upcoming Dacoit, Telugu actor Adivi Sesh has not only led the films, but also served as a writer. He believes that being an active part of the storytelling further helps him hone his craft as an actor. “For me, writing and acting are not two separate processes; they feed each other. When I write, I am already thinking as an actor, visualising emotions and moments. Similarly, when I act, I am constantly thinking about how the story can be told more truthfully,” he shares.

Having written both his upcoming movies — the romantic drama Dacoit and the spy thriller G2 — Sesh considers the written word his “holy grail”. That said, he believes his dual role of an actor and a writer helps him better understand when a script needs reworking.

He elaborates, “The script, to me, is not a fixed document. Sometimes, what feels right on paper may not translate the same way on set, and that’s where my dual role as a writer and actor helps. I can adapt, evolve, and make it better. I spend my days off, reworking scripts, making sure that every emotion, every pause, and every beat feels authentic.”
