Odisha government collects ₹27.4 crore as penalty for illegal sand mining

Odisha has collected over Rs 27 crore in penalties this financial year for illegal minor mineral extraction, with Rs 48.4 crore amassed in the previous year. Authorities conducted thousands of raids, seizing numerous vehicles to curb illicit sand mining. The state employs GPS demarcation, CCTV, and drone surveillance to monitor operations and prevent revenue loss.
