West Bengal drafts plan for reuse of treated wastewater in housing units

West Bengal’s urban development department has drafted a policy promoting safe reuse of treated wastewater for non-potable purposes. The policy aims to reuse at least 20% of treated wastewater by 2030 across various sectors, including industry, agriculture, and housing. It also suggests imposing user charges and commercializing treated water use for revenue generation.
