About 7.6 lakh streetlights in Hyderabad set for ₹1,340-crore overhaul

Greater Hyderabad is set for a major street lighting overhaul with over 70% of existing lights nearing end-of-life. A Rs 1,340 crore, 10-year unified tender will replace, operate, and maintain approximately 7.6 lakh streetlights and CCMS boxes across three municipal corporations. The new system emphasizes real-time monitoring, performance-based penalties, and faster fault rectification to ensure improved illumination and accountability.
