The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday, April 30, announced a scheduled water cut across several areas in the eastern suburbs, including Chembur and Ghatkopar, on May 5 and 6, 2026, due to essential maintenance work.
According to the official statement issued by the BMC, large parts of M-West Ward covering Maitri Park, Chembur Gaothan, Diamond Garden, Postal Colony, Swastik Park, and Ghatla will face a complete water suspension on Tuesday, May 5. The officials further added that the water supply in these localities will resume on Wednesday, May 6, but at reduced pressure.
Chembur Camo, Suman Nagar and other key areas to be affected
Similarly, areas including Chembur Camp, Sindhi Camp, Suman Nagar, Collector’s Colony, and R.C. Marg will also experience no water supply on May 5, followed by a low-pressure supply the next day. Residents in Mahul, Ambapada, Mysore Colony, and Vashi Naka will face identical disruptions.
The officials further emphasised, “In Bhakti Park and the surrounding MMRDA buildings, water supply will be completely halted on May 5 and restored at low pressure on May 6. Meanwhile, M.S. Buildings No. 1-32 will receive water only between 4:00 AM and 12:00 PM on May 5, with no supply on May 6.”
Tilak Nagar, Thakkar Bappa Colony and other areas to face water cut on May 6
On Wednesday, May 6, additional areas, including Tilak Nagar, Thakkar Bappa Colony, Shell Colony, and Pestam Sagar, will witness a full-day water suspension. Localities along P.L. Lokhande Marg, Ramabai Colony, Chedda Nagar, and adjoining areas will also be affected.
In N Ward, parts of Vidyavihar (East), Chittaranjan Nagar, and Rajawadi will have no water supply on May 6. Furthermore, the entire Ghatkopar (East) division—including Pant Nagar, Garodia Nagar, and Ramabai Nagar—will face a two-day shutdown on both May 5 and 6.
Select pockets in Ghatkopar (West) and Vidyavihar (West), including areas near LBS Marg, Shreyas Cinema Road, and Chirag Nagar, will also experience water suspension on both days. Key facilities such as Sarvodaya Hospital and nearby residential pockets will be impacted as well.
The civic body has urged residents to store adequate water in advance and use it judiciously during the disruption period. Officials stated that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to carry out critical infrastructure upgrades and ensure improved water supply in the long run.
