Mamata Banerjee on Monday alleged serious irregularities in the West Bengal Assembly Election process, even as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) moves towards a decisive victory in the state.
Speaking to reporters, Banerjee claimed that more than 100 seats had been “looted” and described the outcome as “immoral” and “illegal”, reported the ANI.
She reportedly criticised the Election Commission of India, alleging bias and inaction despite her complaints.
She said she had raised concerns with officials, including Manoj Agrawal, but no steps were taken.
The West Bengal Chief Minister also questioned the role of central agencies and security forces during the election process.
Claims of issues at counting centres
The Trinamool Congress leader further alleged irregularities at counting centres. She claimed that CCTV cameras were switched off, party agents were denied entry, and violence broke out later in the day. Banerjee also said she was physically attacked during the process, according to the ANI.

Banerjee is contesting from the Bhabanipur constituency, where she is currently leading by a narrow margin of around 3,800 votes against BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari after multiple rounds of counting.
BJP heads for major victory
The BJP is leading or has won over 200 seats in the Assembly, indicating a sweeping victory.
If confirmed, this would mark a major political shift in West Bengal, where the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) has been in power for around 15 years.
The BJP had won 77 seats in the previous Assembly elections.
The Congress is expected to win only a few seats, while smaller parties have secured limited gains.
The results highlight a significant change in the state’s political landscape, which has historically been dominated by the Congress, Left parties, and later the TMC.
PM Modi praises party workers
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated BJP workers for their efforts, saying their hard work had led to the party’s success.
He also noted that these were the first Assembly elections under BJP president Nitin Nabin and praised the party’s campaign.
PM Modi also highlighted the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA)’s performance in Assam and other states.
He said the alliance had performed well in by-elections held in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Nagaland and Tripura.
