Actor Bobby Deol recently reflected on the challenging years his family faced, including financial struggles and professional setbacks. In a candid conversation, he spoke about how the success of Animal transformed his life and how Gadar 2 changed things for his brother Sunny. Bobby also shared an emotional note on losing his father, veteran actor Dharmendra.
Bobby Deol on financially difficult phase
In an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, Bobby recalled, “We had been through the worst period for many years. My father was getting older, and he felt the pain the most because every father wants to see their children happy. We were going through a very difficult phase financially and in many other ways.”
However, things started changing for the Deol family after Dharmendra’s performance was praised in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani. Soon after, the family celebrated another milestone when Karan Deol got married.

“When Animal happened, I was happy just to be a part of that film. Ranbir Kapoor is my favourite actor, and I was getting the opportunity to work with him. I had seen him at parties and always loved his personality, his dancing, everything about him. I always felt that when he started his career, something special would happen,” Bobby reflected on Animal’s success.
He added, “When Animal became a hit, it was just wonderful. It took me a year to truly understand that things had changed in my life. It was a tsunami of blessings for the family. Everything got better. Waiting is the toughest thing. I hope nobody has to wait 22 or 25 years the way my brother had to wait for Gadar 2 to happen. But it happened because he never gave up,” he said.

The actor also opened up about the profound impact of Dharmendra’s death and how he continues to feel his presence. He shared, “Losing someone that special changes you forever. Initially, I felt weak, hollow, and restless. For months, there was an emptiness inside me. But then, the more I thought about him, the stronger I became. All the beautiful memories started encouraging me and giving me strength.”
The actor said he often feels his father`s presence guiding him. “I could sense him. I could feel him.”
