Mimoh Chakraborty says Haunted 3D did not rely entirely on AI amid criticism

Actor Mimoh Chakraborty has responded to the online criticism surrounding the use of artificial intelligence and visual effects in Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past, saying that the film did not rely entirely on AI and that audiences are free to have their own opinions.

Haunted 3D sparks controversy over AI

The horror film, directed by Vikram Bhatt, has generated considerable discussion on social media since its release. While many viewers have appreciated the film’s horror elements and box-office performance, others have pointed to visual glitches and what they believe is an overuse of AI-generated imagery. The debate has become one of the most talked-about aspects of the film’s reception.

Addressing the criticism, Mimoh clarified  to HT, that the makers did not depend solely on artificial intelligence while creating the movie. He explained that several sequences were specifically designed for the 3D viewing experience and required a combination of different technologies and filmmaking techniques. According to the actor, certain scenes were enhanced with AI only when the team was unable to achieve the desired visual effect through conventional methods.

Mimoh Chakraborty breaks silence

Mimoh admitted that the technical side of filmmaking is not his area of expertise and said that director Vikram Bhatt would be better placed to explain the creative and technological decisions behind the project. However, he emphasized that the team worked hard to create the film’s unique world and atmosphere.

The actor also pointed out that no film is perfect and that audiences often focus on different aspects of a project. While some viewers may choose to analyse technical details, others may connect with the story, performances, or overall experience. For him, the most important aspect is that the film has managed to find an audience despite facing numerous challenges before release.

Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past opened amid stiff competition from several other releases and without the backing of major stars. Yet the film has managed to attract moviegoers and register encouraging box-office numbers. Mimoh described the positive audience response as rewarding, especially after what he called a difficult and demanding journey leading up to the release.

The actor, who made his Bollywood debut with Jimmy in 2008 and gained recognition with the original Haunted 3D in 2011, said every performer faces setbacks and struggles in their career. Reflecting on his journey, he noted that challenges are a part of an actor’s life and that success comes from continuing to move forward and embrace new opportunities.

Despite the trolling, Mimoh remains focused on the support the film has received, choosing to celebrate its success rather than dwell on criticism.
