Around 10-15 people were safely evacuated from a cinema auditorium at Galaxy Blue Sapphire Mall in Greater Noida after a short circuit in the projector room caused the wiring to overheat, resulting in smoke. According to India Today, the incident took place at approximately 7.30 pm on Wednesday, November 5, while Ramayana was being screened at US Cinemas in the mall’s Gaur City premises. The screening was subsequently halted, and the theatre was evacuated as smoke spread through the premises.
Screening of Ramayana interrupted due to short circuit
According to Noida Police, the incident occurred in Auditorium 10, which comes under the jurisdiction of Bisrakh police station. A short circuit in the projector room caused the wires to overheat, leading to smoke inside the auditorium.
Following the alert, Police and fire service department personnel rushed to the location. The smouldering wires were brought under control using a fire extinguisher, while all 10-15 people present inside the auditorium were safely evacuated.
The smoke also led to the suspension of screenings across three auditoriums at the cinema. No injuries or casualties have been reported. Police confirmed that the situation came under control, and further necessary action was taken.
