About 195% more groundwater drawn by Gurugram than it replenished last year

Gurgaon’s groundwater extraction is alarmingly high, exceeding permissible limits by 194.6%, a negligible improvement from last year. This over-exploitation, driven by urbanisation and industrial demand, depletes aquifers faster than they can replenish. Despite warnings, the city relies heavily on groundwater, highlighting a critical need for sustainable water management and increased rainwater harvesting.
