The Ahmedabad airport on Tuesday received a bomb threat via email, which triggered a comprehensive sweep of the premises by security agencies. Nothing suspicious was found during the search, officials confirmed, reported news agency PTI.
Upon receiving the email, local police immediately responded to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport and, with the assistance of the cyber crime branch and other security agencies, thoroughly scanned the entire premises.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, `G` Division, VN Yadav, stated, “The threat turned out to be a hoax as nothing suspicious was found. The Airport police as well as cyber crime are conducting further investigation.”
In a statement, an airport spokesperson confirmed the threat was `non-specific` and that the search yielded no suspicious findings. “Following the receipt of a threatening email on July 22, 2025, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, activated the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee, and the threat was assessed as non-specific,” the spokesperson said.
According to PTI, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)`s Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted comprehensive checks of the premises in line with standard security protocols.
The spokesperson emphasised, “After a thorough sweep of the premises, no suspicious object or activity was found. Airport operations have continued without disruption. The safety and security of passengers and staff remain our highest priority.”
It was also noted that over the last six months, similar hoax bomb threats have been received by the Gujarat High Court, the Ahmedabad airport, and over 20 private schools across the state, PTI reported.
Meanwhile, the Nagpur airport in Maharashtra also received a similar bomb threat on Tuesday, prompting authorities to conduct an extensive search of its premises, officials stated. Following the search, nothing suspicious was found, a senior airport official confirmed.
The Airports Authority of India received an email about a bomb threat at the Nagpur airport on Tuesday morning, and this information was subsequently communicated to the airport authority in Nagpur, the official told PTI.
Furthermore, a concerned committee assessed the threat email, and all necessary checks were carried out by various security agencies, including the police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad. Nothing suspicious was found, the official reiterated.
