Average US long-term mortgage rate leaps to 6.38%, the highest level in more than six months

American home loan interest rates have surged to their highest point in over six months. This rise is making it more expensive for people to buy homes. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate is now 6.38%. This is happening during the peak home buying season. Higher oil prices and inflation worries are contributing factors. Borrowing costs for refinancing also increased.
