Actor Akshay Kumar, who was most recently seen in a cameo appearance in Vishnu Manchu`s Kannappa, has once again found himself at the centre of social media controversy. This time, once again, for allegedly reading his lines from a teleprompter in Kannappa. Interestingly, this wasn`t the first time. The accusations come months after a similar moment from his film Sarfira went viral. Back then, viewers claimed to have caught him glancing at a teleprompter and reading his dialogue. Notably, Kumar appeared unfazed despite the criticism.
Did Akshay Kumar use a teleprompter in Kannappa?
The new clip from Kannappa has gone viral, wherein Akshay Kumar is seen in his costume of Lord Shiva, the role he plays in the film. He is seen delivering an intense monologue. However, eagle-eyed fans spotted the actor`s eyes moving from left to right as the camera moves close to his face.
This has led to netizens claiming that he was allegedly reading lines from a teleprompter that`s placed off-camera. Some users even claimed to see a white reflection in his eyes.
Netizens react
The video quickly went viral online and reignited conversations around the actor`s habit of opting to read his lines rather than learn them. Fans and critics on social media expressed their disappointment over the actor`s behaviour. One user wrote, “And then he brags that he needs just one day to prep for a character! He doesn`t prep-he just reads off a screen. No wonder it shows in his performances.”his is unacceptable, especially when he`s charging Rs 100 crore per film plus profit share. The least he can do is learn his lines,” while a third user questioned, “Why are filmmakers even okay with this?”
Interestingly, despite the allegations, the actor has remained unfazed by the criticisms as he continues with his multiple film projects. Apart from his cameo in Kannapaa, he was last seen in Housefull 5, which received an average reception at the box office. Meanwhile, he will next be seen in Hera Pheri 3 with Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty.
