`Don`t think they have any shame`: Kangana Ranaut on new Nora Fatehi song

Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Thursday slammed the recently released song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke, calling it a “new low” and also accusing Bollywood of crossing the limits of “vulgarity.”

Kangana Ranaut slams Bollywood for vulgarity

The song, featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, is part of the upcoming film KD: The Devil. The track was recently released online and quickly drew attention on social media.

Speaking to the media outside the Parliament, Ranaut spoke about what she called the rising “vulgarity” and “attention-seeking” in the industry. She also called for stricter control over how such songs are presented.

“Bollywood has crossed all limits with vulgarity, tactics, and attention-seeking. The entire country is condemning and reprimanding them. But I don`t think they have any shame…,” Ranaut said.

“There needs to be even more strictness about the display of such vulgarity and obscenity…I think some strict rein will have to be put on Bollywood…,” she added.

However, the song in question is from a Kannada film and the lyrics were translated to Hindi for its dubbed version. Many netizens pointed out the same after Kangana`s comment.

Singer Armaan Malik also reacted to the song. Sharing his views on X, he said the lyrics made him replay the clip because he could not believe what he had heard. He added that writing in commercial songs has reached a “new low.”

“This showed up on my timeline and I had to replay it just to make sure I heard it right. Sad to see commercial songwriting hit a new low…,” he wrote on X.

Controversy surrounding the song

As Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi`s recently released track Sarke Chunar from KD – The Devil faces a lot of backlash for its objectionable lyrics and suggestive choreography, the makers have taken down the song from YouTube.  The makers are working on a new version of the track, with new lyrics, which is expected to reach the audience shortly.

While further details regarding when the new version of Sarke Chunar will be released is unknown for now, the decision has been taken keeping in view the ongoing controversy surrounding the song.

Recently, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice over the alleged use of objectionable and double-meaning lyrics in “Sarke Chunar”.

Additionally, advocate and social activist Vineet Jindal also filed a complaint with the cyber cell of the Delhi Police, asking for legal action against the makers of the track.

He alleged in the complaint that the track has obscene lyrics not suitable for public consumption, especially given the fact that the track is available on various digital platforms. After the song reached the audience, it was subjected to a lot of criticism, with many terming the lyrics as vulgar and inappropriate.
