One more thing to add to the bizarre things that people have done for love! A 60-year-old retired fire fighter who had no criminal record entered a supermarket near a local police station. He was reported to have a balaclava over his mouth and a firearm in his hand, and demanded all the money that the supermarket had. He also helped himself to a piece of Emmental cheese and wine until he got arrested, when he calmly walked with the police to their car, as if he wanted to be arrested. Strangely, it turned out to be exactly that!
The man’s court appointed lawyer mentioned in an interview that he was so desperate that he did not even want any money, but just wanted to see his grandson or at least go on a walk with him. He also added that the man was heartbroken after seeing his grandson in the waiting room with a broken tooth after being molested by the inmates. The 60-year-old was prosecuted for armed robbery, aggravated assault as well as rebellion.
He also plead guilty for them but the circumstances under which he acted left everyone shook, including the judge, who finally ruled that the man acted out of desperation and did not have to pay a typical three to five years of prison time for it. In the end, it was decided that the man would have to compensate the victims of the robbery, receive psychological treatment, while also being banned from visiting the shopping centre that he robbed. He also retained the right to visit his grandson legally, without being an inmate himself. The story seems like a happy ending for all the parties involved!
Invite-only burger
The world’s most expensive burger is sold by a restaurant in Spain and can only be enjoyed by those invited by the restaurant
People tend to consume burgers because of how pocket-friendly they are as a meal, but the prices of burgers have been rising recently. The world’s most expensive burger is sold in Asador Aupa restaurant in Spain, and it costs $11,000, about Rs 97 lakh. A brainchild of the chefs at Asador Aupa, this burger is not your usual burger from a local food joint, it is a very well thought out burger that took eight years of research and experimentation, and its ingredients remain a secret. Some would argue that even academic research papers take lesser time to be researched about.

The owner of the restaurant added that his concept for the expensive burger was that luxury need not be noisy, but unattainable. This brought them to the conclusion of not having the burger anywhere on the restaurant menu. People need to be invited to the restaurant to have the burger. The website of the restaurant mentions, “If you think you should be on the list, you can request it and the request will be processed.” So much exclusivity surrounding one burger that does not even have anything gimmicky about it, just good quality ingredients is quite amusing.
It’s a mall world
Users on Reddit are bonding over a dream that all of them seem to be having collectively and it includes a mall world. While the events in the dreams may vary, it is almost scary how everyone has their dreams taking place at the exact same location. Users also ended up creating a Reddit space to discuss this, providing more content to conspiracy theorists.
Vegan Caviar
PIC/ODDITYCENTRAL
With plant-based alternatives getting popular by the day, no one would have thought seaweed caviar would become a thing. It is an alternative to fish egg whose creators Zeroe Caviar, based in United States, claim that it tastes just like the real thing.
Who let the frogs in?
PIC/ISTOCK
A normal course of treatment for back pain is to take painkillers and wait for it to subside. But that does not seem to be the case for this woman from China, who heard a rumour about joint pain being treated by swallowing live frogs, and proceeded to swallow eight of them! She later found out that she had contracted several parasitic infections and blood disorders. Maybe rumours are not the best prescriptions.
Raw-dogging boredom
Gen Z has figured out a new way to stay away from screens — by doing nothing all day! Teens have begun to follow the challenge on TikTok where they simply stare somewhere blankly without entertainment involved, sleep or keep themselves distracted to avoid screen time. Popularly termed as “raw-dogging boredom”, who knows if this might finally be the practice that helps Gen Z manage their screen addiction and low attention spans!
