Gujarat on Sunday continued to experience widespread monsoon activity, with heavy rainfall reported across multiple regions of the state.

The heaviest downpour over the past 12 hours was recorded in Daskroi taluka of Ahmedabad district, which received 10 inches of rain between 6 am and 6 pm on Sunday, reported the IANS.

According to figures released by the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), Gandhinagar, several other areas also received intense rainfall.

In Kheda district, Nadiad and Mehmedabad talukas received over 8 inches of rain, while Matar taluka saw over 7 inches. Vaso, Mahemdha, and Kathlal talukas also received rainfall exceeding 5 inches, according to the IANS.

Additionally, Umreth in Anand and parts of Kheda taluka recorded around 4 inches of rain. Rainfall between 3 to 4 inches was noted in eight talukas, with 18 talukas receiving more than 2 inches, and 30 others recording over 1 inch.

In contrast, 112 talukas received less than 1 inch of rainfall during this period. As of 6 am on July 27, Gujarat has received 58 per cent of its seasonal average rainfall, with Kutch leading at 64 per cent, followed by Central Gujarat, while Saurashtra recorded the lowest at 54 per cent.

With the monsoon intensifying, local authorities are maintaining close surveillance, particularly in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging and flash floods.

The state government has urged residents to remain informed through official weather advisories. In anticipation of further rainfall, the government has scaled up preparedness and emergency response mechanisms.

The SEOC is continuously monitoring real-time rainfall data and district-level ground reports. Disaster Response Teams, NDRF units, and local administrations are on high alert, especially in vulnerable regions.

Control rooms have been activated across districts for effective coordination.

Meanwhile, drainage systems and flood-prone hotspots are being closely observed. The administration has also ensured the availability of emergency shelters, food supplies, medical assistance, and 24/7 helplines.
