Thane district authorities have launched a major crackdown on illegal sand mining in Bhiwandi taluka. The revenue department destroyed barges and suction units valued at approximately Rs 90 lakh. The operation targeted the Kevani creek area. Storage tanks for illegally extracted sand were also demolished.
