After welcoming her daughter, Saraayah, last year, Kiara Advani has been on a maternity break, staying away from film announcements. Amid this, reports claimed she would headline a biopic on legendary actor Madhubala, produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, industry sources have now dismissed the rumours, calling the casting claims baseless.
Kiara Advani not a part of Madhubala biopic
A report by Variety claimed that, “The Madhubala biopic is back on track and will go on floors by the end of this year. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has come on board to produce, with Kiara Advani starring in the lead role.”
However, a source from inside the film industry has stated to HT City that there is no truth to the reports. The source said, “There is absolutely no truth to the reports currently circulating about Kiara Advani being cast in a Madhubala biopic produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The claims are completely baseless.”
Kiara Advani’s upcoming movies
The actress will next be seen in Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups with Yash. The film, directed by Geetu Mohandas, also stars Huma Qureshi, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in pivotal roles. The trailer and the song Tabahi from the film were unveiled by the makers. The flick was earlier scheduled to release on March 19. However, the makers shared that due to West Asia tensions, they have postponed the release. It will now hit the screens on June 4.
The makers issued a statement reading, “Just wanted to officially inform you that the trailer launch for Toxic, which was scheduled in Bangalore on March 8, has been cancelled as the film’s release has now been postponed to June 4. We’ll be in touch soon with fresh updates regarding the event.”
Apart from this, a report in mid-day stated that the actress is all set to play the role of Meena Kumari in her biopic. Titled Kamal Aur Meena, it will mark not only Advani’s first real-life character but also her first film shoot since becoming a mother in July. The project will roll in the first half of 2026.
It was on July 16, 2025, that Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara officially announced the arrival of their baby girl, admitting that their “world” has “forever changed.”
