Kriti Sanon recently made history by becoming the first Indian actress to deliver an address at the World Health Summit 2025 in Berlin. As an actor, producer and UNFPA India’s Honorary Ambassador for Gender Equality, Kriti used the global platform to call for bold and sustained investments in women’s health, emphasising the economic and social impact of prioritising it.
Kriti Sanon address at World Health Summit 2025
Speaking at the session Women’s Health – Global Wealth: Catalysing Returns on Bold Investments, Sanon noted that women’s health remains severely underfunded despite representing half of the world’s population.“Women’s health is not a side issue. It is the cornerstone of humanity`s progress, prosperity, and future.” Sanon said in her speech.
The actress cited a powerful statistic to underscore the urgency of action, sharing that for every USD 300 million invested in women’s health, the return can reach USD 13 billion, which marks a roughly nine-fold return on investment.“Investing in women’s health is not just a moral imperative; it is a strategic investment in our collective future. When women are healthy, they can thrive, and so do their families, communities, and economies. We must move beyond presenting empirical evidence and commit to bold, decisive action,” she noted
Sanon also echoed the principle “Nothing about her, without her,” adding that it`s “time to ensure that women have a seat at the table when decisions about their health and bodies are being made.” The Mimi actress also reflected on her recent field visits, wherein she witnessed the realities of child marriage, lack of maternal healthcare, and exclusion of young women in health systems. Through the stories of resilience, Kriti shed light on how timely care can change lives.
Kriti`s presence at the Health Summit marks an important moment for India’s voice in the global conversation about gender and health. Meanwhile, the actress continues to champion accessible sexual and reproductive healthcare, maternal health services, and meaningful inclusion of adolescent girls in health decision-making in her role as UNFPA India’s Ambassador.
