Maharashtra decentralises land regularisation powers, collectors, commissioners to handle 90% of cases

Maharashtra’s legislative assembly has unanimously passed a new bill. This law empowers district officials to resolve most land-use violations locally. This decentralization aims to speed up processes and reduce citizen burdens. Previously, many cases went to the state secretariat, causing delays. The amendment provides a clear legal framework for these regularizations.
