Actor Shanaya Kapoor recently opened up about a painful experience from her past while promoting her upcoming film Tu Yaa Main. Speaking on the podcast Relationshit Advice, she revealed how she discovered that her then boyfriend had been unfaithful during a vacation abroad, calling it one of the most shocking moments of her life.

Shanaya shared that she believed she was in a happy and stable relationship at the time. The couple was travelling together and everything seemed normal until an unexpected incident changed her perspective completely. When her phone battery died, she borrowed her boyfriend’s phone to book a cab. While using it, she noticed a notification from another woman. What began as mild curiosity quickly turned into disbelief when she opened the chat.
As she scrolled further, Shanaya realized the situation was far worse than she had imagined. Her boyfriend was not messaging just one woman but was simultaneously in touch with five different women, interacting with them as though he were single. The discovery left her feeling betrayed and emotionally shaken. Trying to process what she had just learned, she took screenshots of the conversations and sent them to her close friend, actor Ananya Panday, who immediately advised her to leave and come stay with her.

However, being in a foreign country made the situation complicated. Shanaya decided to continue the trip while quietly dealing with her emotions. For the next three days, she pretended everything was fine, attending outings and meals while internally grappling with heartbreak. Sensing something was wrong, her boyfriend attempted to smooth things over by gifting her an expensive pair of earrings. Shanaya later referred to them as “guilty earrings,” joking that she still owns them because she feels she earned them after enduring the ordeal.
When confronted, her ex tried to dismiss the chats as harmless messaging and insisted nothing physical had happened. Shanaya, however, viewed it as emotional cheating and a clear breach of trust. The experience ultimately reshaped her understanding of relationships, leaving her stronger and more self aware as she moved forward both personally and professionally.
