Suniel Shetty has got himself in hot water once more after drawing flak for his remark regarding the “comfort of C-section”. This time, the actor is under fire for a recent statement in which he suggested that a wife should understand when her husband is busy with his work and focus on the child.
Suniel was asked in a chat with Pinkvilla about how the meaning of marriage has evolved over time. Suniel replied, “Aaj kal bachon mein patience hai, hi nahi. Shaadi kuch time ke baad ek samjhauta hota hai, in which you must comprehend and care for one another. (These days, kids have no patience. Marriage, after a while, becomes a compromise in which you must understand and live for one another).
He said, “Phir ek bacha aata hai, aur patni ko yeh jaan na zaruri hai ki husband career banayega toh bache ko main dekh rahi hoon. Of course, Saath mein dekhega. Par aaj kal sab cheezon mein pressure hota hai. (Then a child enters the scene, and the wife must understand that if her husband is pursuing his work, she must care for the child. Of course, the husband will be involved. But nowadays, there is just too much pressure in everything).”
Suniel, who will appear in the upcoming season of Hunter Tootega Nahi Todega, stated that a lot has changed over the years, saying how the virtual media is providing advice on “how to be a mother, how to be a father, what to eat, and what to do”.
Netizens react to Suniel`s statement
His statement outraged several people, who flocked to social media platforms such as Reddit to voice their outrage. “Doesn`t their public relations team advise them that being quiet is sometimes the best course of action? or even the people around them. “Bro should learn from his damad (son-in-law),” one said, with another commenting, “Don`t be deceived by his looks or the kind of role they play, Sunil is ultimately 60+ and has a mindset similar to many people in his age group.”
“It`s still unacceptable. “My father is over 65 and more feminist than any of the men I know,” one commenter wrote. Someone said, “He has turned out to be such an unlikable person.”
“Typical Indian uncle mindset..not surprised,” one wrote, while another slammed, “So he`s a typical misogynist”.
An furious social media user said, “The more he speaks, the more horrible he becomes. You are a misogynist! “Their true colours.”
A user added, “After the natural birth warrior narrative, he returns with a masculine chauvinist anecdote! Seriously, he should quit talking.”
Gauahar Khan had also called out Suniel earlier
Suniel was slammed earlier this year for his “comfort of C-section” statement. Gauahar also called out on him for the same. Suniel had commended his daughter Athiya for avoiding undergoing a C-section. Gauahar asked, “A what?” I want to scream at the top of my lungs and ask, “How could you say that?” Like, how? There are so many myths around this topic that if someone needs a C-section, it is the easiest option. How is there so much misinformation? And for a male celebrity to say that, who has not experienced pregnancy or carried a child, has no idea how excruciating a C-section is.
