Those without vision for development resort to criticism: CM Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said that political parties lacking a development vision often resort to criticism because they have nothing constructive to offer, reported the PTI.

Addressing a rally in Partur town of Jalna district in Maharashtra, just days ahead of the local body elections, CM Fadnavis asserted that the BJP focuses on progress and therefore does not feel the need to criticise its opponents.

In a post on X, CM Fadnavis wrote, addressed people at the ‘Maha Vijay Sankalp Sabha’ held on Friday in Paratur, Jalna, in support of BJP candidate Priyankatai Rakshe for the post of Chairperson of the Paratur Municipal Council, along with candidates for all councillor posts.

Elections to 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats will take place on 2 December, with counting scheduled for December 3. The polls are expected to be a significant test for the ruling Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, according to the PTI.

“I am not criticising any political party in this election. Only those who do not have a development vision or have nothing meaningful to say rely on criticism. We in the BJP have the strength of development, and that is what I wish to present to you,” CM Fadnavis said, as per the PTI.

He urged local leaders to prepare a blueprint for Partur’s development, assuring them that he would implement it over the next five years.

CM Fadnavis added that the state revenue department had taken new decisions, including legalising residential and commercial encroachments on various lands and granting ownership rights to residents. The government, he said, would also provide Rs 2.5 lakh to help people build pucca houses, the news agency reported.

Calling for a shift towards renewable energy, the Chief Minister appealed to citizens and leaders to work towards making Partur Maharashtra’s first solar city.

“People have benefited from the Surya Ghar Yojana, and we have launched an additional scheme for households with low electricity consumption. There are now several solar villages in the state. If leaders here take the initiative, Partur can become Maharashtra’s first solar-powered city,” he said, reported the PTI.
