President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that the US military deployments will remain in place around Iran until the “real agreement” is reached, reported the ANI.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump warned that any failure to uphold the agreement—though he described it as unlikely—could result in a significantly stronger military response. He suggested that the United States is prepared to act decisively if necessary.
Trump reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain open and secure. He also stressed that Iran will not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons, reaffirming a long-standing U.S. position on the issue, according to the ANI.
Criticism of media coverage
The former president criticised media outlets, including The New York Times and CNN, accusing them of publishing what he described as a fabricated “ten-point plan” related to Iran negotiations. He dismissed the reports as inaccurate and misleading, as per the ANI.
White House response to plan
According to the ANI, the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt supported Trump’s position, stating that the proposal attributed to Iran had been rejected outright by U.S. negotiators. She described the plan as unserious and said it had been completely discarded.
Leavitt also urged the media to avoid spreading unverified or misleading information, noting that Iran’s public messaging often differs from its private communications with U.S. officials. She underscored confidence in Trump’s ability to secure outcomes aligned with American interests.
Military action could escalate
In his social media post, Trump asserted that all U.S. naval vessels, aircraft, military personnel, and additional weaponry would stay in place to ensure enforcement.
“All U.S. Ships, Aircraft, and Military Personnel, with additional Ammunition, Weaponry, and anything else that is appropriate and necessary for the lethal prosecution and destruction of an already substantially degraded Enemy, will remain in place in, and around, Iran, until such time as the REAL AGREEMENT reached is fully complied with. If for any reason it is not, which is highly unlikely, then the “Shootin` Starts,” bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
