Woman injured in accident involving vehicle from Ajit Pawar`s convoy dies

A woman who was injured along with her husband and two young daughters after a vehicle from the convoy of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar collided with their motorcycle in Beed district has died, police said on Monday, reported the PTI.

The incident took place on the Telgaon-Dharur Road in Dharur tehsil on November 22, according to officials.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was travelling from Partur in Jalna district to Ausa in Latur district when a fire brigade vehicle forming part of his convoy struck the motorcycle carrying the family of four, the police said, as per the PTI.

The victims — Vishnu Sude (35), his wife Kusum (30), and their two daughters aged six and nine — suffered injuries in the crash, an official from Dharur police station stated, according to the PTI.

They were first taken to Dharur Rural Hospital for immediate medical assistance and were later shifted to Sahyadri Hospital in Latur for further treatment.

Kusum’s condition remained extremely critical, and she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday morning while still receiving treatment, the official added.
Her husband and daughters continue to undergo medical care.

Following the accident, police registered a case of rash driving against the driver of the fire brigade vehicle involved, the official said, the news agency reported.

Meanwhile, in an another incident, a traffic police constable was seriously injured after an autorickshaw driver allegedly ran him over when he attempted to stop him for a traffic violation in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, police said on Monday, reported the PTI.

The incident took place at around 1 pm on Sunday when the constable, Tukaram Taksale, signalled the autorickshaw to halt after observing that the driver was not wearing the mandatory uniform.

Instead of stopping, the driver allegedly sped up and drove the three-wheeler over Taksale, leaving him with severe injuries, a police official said. While trying to escape, he also hit a motorcyclist, causing additional injuries.

Police later traced and arrested the accused driver, identified as Mohammed Yusuf. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including attempt to murder, as well as provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the news agency reported.

Yusuf was produced before a court, which remanded him in police custody for three days. The injured constable is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
