It`s been 21 years since Farah Khan made her directorial debut and just like that gave the world of cinema an iconic movie in Main Hoon Na. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Zayed Khan, Sushmita Sen and Amrita Rao in lead roles, this film was a musical treat that went on to become a cult classic. For the past several years now, since the `remake` and `sequel` trend became a norm in Bollywood, fans of the film have been hoping for a sequel of Main Hoon Na as well. And now, Zayed Khan was seen reacting to it.
Zayed Khan on who will play Lucky in Main Hoon Na 2
Zayed Khan, who played the role of Laxman aka Lucky, is one of the most iconic characters. He played a rebellious and stylish college student navigating life, love, strained family relationships, rivalry, and college authorities. His role brings life to the screen with his colourful, jolly and loud presence.
Mid-day recently caught Zayed for a candid chat and asked him about the sequel to the famous film. Reacting to the question of who will play his role, Lucky in the film and whether it will be him, he instantly smiled and said, “I think he`ll have to be really lucky to play Lucky. So, whoever that is, I wish him the best.”
Zayed on his role Lucky
Back in April 2025, when the film completed 21 years, Zayed recollected his role and said, “Looking back at Main Hoon Na after 21 years feels surreal. Lucky was my breakthrough role — a character that changed everything for me. The way fans still come up to me and call me ‘Lucky’ or ‘Laxman,’ mimic those classic lines, or even do my signature swag move — it`s incredibly humbling. Working with Shah Rukh Sir and under Farah Khan’s direction was a masterclass in filmmaking that shaped my entire career. Lucky’s rebellious spirit, his transformation, and his iconic style — especially my look, with the long hair and highlights, baggy pants, vests, and open shirts — all became a major part of pop culture.”
“Two decades later, I can honestly say that no matter what roles I take on, Lucky will always hold a special place in my heart. That film wasn’t just my entry into Bollywood — it was my entry into the hearts of audiences. Twenty-one years later, I’m still grateful for all the love, and may it keep coming in leaps and bounds,” the actor had shared.
There have been multiple reports over the last decade about Main Hoon Na 2 being on the cards. However, there has been no confirmation so far if the film is really happening or not.
