Five suspects arrested in Zubeen Garg`s death case
According to officials, none of the accused were represented by lawyers, and no bail petitions were submitted to the court. According to sources, they are expected to be detained at Guwahati Central Jail as the investigation, conducted by the Assam CID`s Special Investigation Team (SIT), enters a critical phase.
Munna Prasad Gupta, SIT chief and Special DGP (CID), said that the five defendants were produced in court after their police custody ended. “We arrested seven people, and the police custody of five has been completed, so we are presenting them to the court today.” “The remaining two will be released the day after tomorrow,” he told ANI earlier.
He further stated that two witnesses had already arrived at the CID office to record their statements, with one more coming. “The total number of people who have appeared before the CID now stands at ten. We also received a communication requesting the names of officers who will be visiting Singapore for an inquiry, as is routine procedure. “We are waiting for their response,” Gupta stated.
All about Zubeen Garg`s demise
The arrests occurred about a month after Zubeen Garg`s sad death on September 19, earlier this year. The news of his death shook the state, eliciting popular fury and calls for a transparent investigation.
Following preliminary findings, the Assam Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the matter, citing anomalies in the events preceding his death. Several people in the singer`s personal and professional life have been questioned during the last few weeks.
