Shah Rukh Khan’s next film, King, is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Directed by Siddharth Anand of Pathaan fame, the film also marks the theatrical debut of Khan’s daughter, Suhana Khan. Apart from the father-daughter duo, the film boasts a rich cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Raghav Juyal, and Saurabh Shukla, among others.
Ed Sheeran to sing for King?
In 2025, singer Ed Sheeran revealed that he had recorded a Hindi song for an upcoming Bollywood film starring Shah Rukh Khan. While he did not name the film, many assumed it to be King, as the actor had not announced any other project at the time. Now, music composer Anirudh Ravichander has reacted to speculation about Ed Sheeran being part of the film’s album.
Anirudh Ravichander, who earlier worked on Shah Rukh Khan’s film Jawan, will be composing the music for King as well. In an interview with Bombay Times, he was asked whether Ed Sheeran would be part of the film’s soundtrack. Responding to this, he said, “That was just an idea. It hasn’t been executed yet. But it may happen—either that or something big is on the cards.”
Further talking about King, Ravichander said, “Sir makes sure that you don’t feel the pressure. We just want to celebrate him. We want to make sure that he gets the best. Sid (Siddharth Anand, director) and he have worked a lot on the film. So hopefully, whenever it releases this year, it will be another memorable time for us.”
Last year, Ed Sheeran visited India to shoot the video for his song Sapphire, which also featured portions sung by Arijit Singh. The music video showed Sheeran travelling across India and enjoying the country’s culture, and it also included a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan.
During that time, Ed shared a BTS video from the making of Sapphire. Reacting in the comments, he dropped a major update, saying, “The Hindi song was for a Bollywood movie SRK is doing. This is the Punjabi version of ‘Sapphire’ with Arijit. I’m just doing all languages at this point.” However, he did not specify which Bollywood film he was referring to.
King teaser and first look
The electrifying title reveal, dropped on November 2 to mark Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday, introduced his silver-haired, action-driven look, an SRK-special theme song, and a striking dialogue: “Darr nahi, dehshat hoon,” setting off a frenzy across media platforms.
The teaser created a buzz as Shah Rukh appeared in a dark, intense avatar with grey hair, a bloodied face, and a trail of destruction in his wake. Holding a King of Hearts card, he delivers a powerful monologue about violence, identity, and fear, reinforcing the film’s gritty tone.
In January this year, they also announced the film’s release window, blocking the Christmas weekend. The timing positions King as a grand year-end release.
