He highlighted that while he has always respected the judicial system and also fully cooperated with the investigation at every stage, the time taken to reach the conclusion has been deeply frustrating.
About the pornography case
For the unversed, Raj Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch back on July 19, 2021, in connection with an alleged pornography production and distribution case. Police treated him as a “key conspirator in creating and circulating adult content through subscription-based mobile applications.” The investigators claimed that the videos in question were produced in India and uploaded through foreign-linked platforms in order to avoid local regulations.
The case involved charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita now), the Information Technology Act, as well as the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. The police claimed that multiple accused were involved in filming, managing the content, and later monetising the material.
Notably, Raj Kundra has always denied wrongdoing and maintained that the content was erotic rather than pornographic. The businessman and actor was remanded to judicial custody and later granted bail in September 2021. He reportedly spent around two months in custody.
Meanwhile, the court proceedings and related investigations continued over the years. Now, as his advocate concluded his arguments, the actor is finally seeking relief from the long-drawn legal process.
