Amid much excitement for its release and multiple delays, Alpha finally made it to the big screen on July 3, 2026. The film, touted to be the first female-led story in the YRF Spy Universe, brought Alia Bhatt and Sharvari together in an action-packed avatar. With mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and audiences, Alpha’s first day at the box office wasn’t quite what YRF would’ve expected.
Alpha box office day 1 collection
Released on July 3, Alpha’s early response reflected in its box office performance as well. According to trade website Sacnilk, Alpha earned Rs 9 crore net in India on its opening day. The film was released across 7,534 shows nationwide, offering it a wide reach in cinemas.
On its opening day, the movie reportedly witnessed an overall theatre occupancy of 20.40 per cent, with morning shows at 9.92 per cent, afternoon shows at 17.85 per cent, evening shows at 19.69 per cent, followed by night shows at 34.15 per cent.
While the opening figure is better than some recent Bollywood releases, it is, however, the lowest day-one collection for any film in the YRF Spy Universe. The previous film from the banner, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, had opened to Rs 52 crore net despite receiving poor reviews. It was released across 19,455 shows. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which holds the biggest opening in the franchise, opened to Rs 57 crore net on day one.
However, on the brighter side, from Alia Bhatt, Alpha has beaten the opening-day collection of her last theatrical release, Jigra. Released in 2024, the film had earned Rs 4.55 crore net on its first day from 5,779 shows.
About Alpha
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha features Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in the lead, along with Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor playing key roles. Hrithik Roshan also makes a special cameo appearance as Major Kabir, reprising his popular War character on the big screen.
The film marks a special one for Sharvari, who currently has two movies playing in the cinema halls at the same time. Her earlier release, Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga, is still running in cinemas, as Alpha becomes her second theatrical release within a month.
