A quiet beginning
Ranveer Singh has begun shooting for Pralay, an end-of-the-world action thriller that went on floors in Mumbai on Sunday. Also producing the film, Ranveer stars alongside Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra (2025) breakout star Kalyani Priyadarshan. Directed by Jai Mehta of Lootere (2024) and Scam 1992 (2020) fame, the film is being shot across live locations in Mumbai and its outskirts. While plot details remain under wraps, Pralay is being mounted as a large-scale theatrical actioner. The film marks Ranveer’s next major project after the hugely successful Dhurandhar franchise.
‘Don 3’ detour
Had ‘Don 3’ gone ahead, it would have been Ranveer’s second film after ‘Dhurandhar’, followed by ‘Pralay’.
The South doesn’t bend
Anurag Kashyap
Anurag Kashyap has explained why he believes Bollywood bends more easily to powerful forces than the South Indian film industries. Speaking to Janice Sequeira, he said the first compromise often brings benefits, making it harder to draw the line later. “Once the door has been opened, it can’t be shut,” he said, adding that people are aware of their compromises and “also feel embarrassed” and “sometimes feel ashamed”. The director also stressed that South industries are less dependent on the Hindi audience.
