Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia’s much-awaited folk thriller The Vvaan: Force of the Forest is reportedly undergoing a major creative overhaul, with the film being reshot and re-edited ahead of its scheduled theatrical release. According to a Filmfare report, the changes also include a shake-up in the direction team.
The Vvaan: Force of The Forest to reshoot
Sources close to the production have revealed that Deepak Mishra, who had been associated with the project since its inception, and the original team at The Viral Fever (TVF) are no longer steering the film. Niraj Kothari and Sahir Raza are now reportedly overseeing the editing process, working under the direction of Ektaa Kapoor, whose Balaji Motion Pictures has co-produced the project from the beginning.
The latest development comes after the film went through several changes to its release schedule. Originally announced for a Chhath Puja release in 2025, The Vvaan was subsequently pushed to May 2026 and then August 28. It is now slated to arrive in cinemas on September 25. The earlier postponements were officially attributed to extended post-production and visual effects work.
The reported reshoots are said to have been initiated at the behest of Sidharth Malhotra. According to sources, the actor personally pushed for 17 additional days of filming, with a particular focus on reworking the film’s climax and action sequences. The scale of the reshoot indicates that the makers are making substantial changes to the film before its release.
All about the film
The project, which combines folklore with thriller elements, was announced in 2024 with Sidharth in the lead. The film was described as a folk thriller and was initially scheduled to release in 2025. The announcement generated curiosity around its unusual premise and the collaboration between Balaji Motion Pictures and TVF.
Earlier this year, reports also suggested that Sidharth and Tamannaah would shoot a visually rich folklore-based dance sequence for the film in Mumbai. The project is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with TVF and 11:11 Productions.
With the film now undergoing extensive reshoots and a fresh edit, questions remain over whether the latest changes will affect its September 25 release. As of now, neither the makers, TVF nor Sidharth Malhotra’s representatives have officially commented on the reported creative changes or the direction-team overhaul.
