Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against filmmaker Pushpendra Ramlakhan Singh and his wife, Pragati Chauhan, following actor Satendra Soni’s allegations of assault and non-payment of his remuneration. The case was registered at Oshiwara Police Station on Friday, nearly two months after Soni first levelled the allegations against the makers of the upcoming film Ped Palki. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Satendra Soni’s case gets registered
According to Mumbai Police, the FIR has been registered under Sections 115(2), 127(3), 351(2), 352 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The development follows an emotional video shared by Soni on social media, in which the actor alleged that he faced an assault after approaching the film’s makers over pending payments.
Soni, who is known for his appearance in Laapataa Ladies, claimed that he travelled to Madhya Pradesh to shoot for Ped Palki, which is directed and produced by Pushpendra Singh. According to the actor, he was paid only Rs 50,000 as an advance before the shoot, while the remaining remuneration was allegedly supposed to be paid during the filming schedule.
All about the assault case
The actor alleged that after completing a substantial portion of his shooting schedule, he approached the makers regarding his pending dues. Soni claimed that his shoot was abruptly wrapped up following the discussion and that he was asked to vacate his hotel room within 10 minutes.
Soni further alleged that Singh and Chauhan assaulted him and forcibly pushed him into a car. Describing the alleged incident in his social media video, the actor claimed that the experience left him feeling as though he was being kidnapped. The video subsequently attracted considerable attention online, with several social media users expressing support for Soni and criticising the alleged conduct of the film’s makers.
The registration of the FIR marks a significant development in the controversy surrounding Ped Palki. However, the allegations remain allegations at this stage, and the police investigation is currently underway. Further details are awaited as authorities proceed with the case.
The actor is known for his performance in films and series like Laapataa Ladies, Mirzapur, Bawaal and more.
