Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk, known for films including Bad Newz, was reportedly caught in a shooting incident in Canada shortly after performing at a concert in Abbotsford, British Columbia. The incident reportedly took place on the night of September 5, with a vehicle believed to be part of the singer’s convoy coming under fire. No injuries were reported.
Ammy Virk’s convoy gets attacked, 7 shots fired
According to a report by PTC News, Virk had just concluded his concert at Rogers Forum in Abbotsford and left the venue with his convoy at around 11 pm. A dark-coloured SUV allegedly opened fire on a vehicle travelling through the 2500-block of McCallum Road. Reports suggest that between seven and 10 shots were fired, with bullets reportedly hitting the rear window of the vehicle.
It was further reported that the targeted vehicle was a bulletproof Rolls-Royce Cullinan. It was reportedly carrying four people, including Ammy Virk. Despite the firing, all those inside the vehicle are said to have escaped unharmed.
The incident reportedly took place shortly after Virk’s performance as part of his ongoing concert tour in Canada. While reports have linked the shooting to the singer’s convoy, authorities have not yet officially confirmed that Virk himself was inside the targeted vehicle or that he was the intended target.
No casualties reported
Adding another twist to the incident, police reportedly received information about a vehicle fire shortly after the shooting. An SUV was found completely burnt out in the 2400-block of Sunnyside Place, some distance from the location where the shots were fired. Authorities are investigating whether the burnt vehicle is connected to the shooting.
The Abbotsford Police have acknowledged the shooting on McCallum Road, but the investigation remains underway. Police have not publicly identified the intended target or confirmed the identities of the occupants of the vehicle that came under fire.
The motive behind the incident is also yet to be established. Investigators are reportedly examining the circumstances surrounding the shooting as well as the possible connection between the two vehicles involved in the incidents.
Virk, who has established himself as a prominent name in Punjabi music and cinema, has also appeared in several Hindi films, including Bhuj: The Pride of India, 83, Bad Newz and Khel Khel Mein. The actor-singer has not been reported injured in the incident.
