Swara Bhasker recalls her reaction to 2019 Ayodhya verdict
Speaking about the verdict on The Midnight Hour podcast, Swara revealed she messaged “all the Muslims” in her phone book after the verdict. She said, “I was so upset when the verdict came out, because I felt that it was very unfair. And I messaged all the Muslims in my phonebook. From Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan to Fahad Ahmad.”
“I was so upset that I wanted to reach out to all the Muslims I know and tell them that ‘as a Hindu, I just want you to know that I’m really sorry, I am really ashamed, and I don’t agree with this’.”
Swara’s comments have once again sparked sharp reactions on social media, with many criticising her stance on the Ayodhya verdict.
About the Ayodhya verdict
For the unversed, the Ayodhya dispute revolved around the site where the Babri Masjid stood before it was demolished in 1992. On November 9, 2019, the Supreme Court order awarded the disputed land for the construction of a Ram temple. It also directed that five acres of alternative land be allotted to the Sunni Central Waqf Board for a mosque. The SC judgment thus brought the long-running legal dispute to an end.
Reacting to her comments, one user on X wrote, “Swara Bhasker was upset over the Ram Mandir verdict. Sometimes I genuinely feel bad for her; she spends day and night praising Bollywood, hoping to get work, but somehow the work never comes (sic).”
Another user wrote, “Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker was UPSET over the Ram Mandir verdict. Millions celebrated the historic Ayodhya verdict. But Swara Bhasker? The Ram Mandir issue continues to trigger Bollywood’s biggest debate.”
This comes after Swara earlier faced massive backlash over her Padmavat comments, wherein she slammed the Jauhar scene. Many criticised her over the comments.
