With Assam reeling under severe floods, Bollywood celebrities are rallying to support those affected. Days after Salman Khan initiated a relief campaign, Alia Bhatt has raised her voice, calling for immediate assistance for the flood-hit state and urging people to contribute to relief efforts.
Alia Bhatt calls for immediate relief
Extending support to the state, the actress wrote, “Right now, floods are affecting so many parts of our country, with Assam being among the hardest hit and facing an incredibly challenging time. More than 60 lives have been lost. Lakhs of people have been displaced. Entire families have lost their homes, their land, their livestock, and, for some, even the people they love.”
“It happens every year, and it still catches us off guard. Assam needs immediate relief right now, and it’ll need support for the long road to recovery. If you’ve been wondering how you can help, I’ll be sharing a few ways we can support relief efforts over the next few days through organisations working on the ground,” the actress added.
Salman Khan, Bhumi Pednekkar extend support
Recently, Salman Khan also teamed up with one of his fan clubs in Assam to launch a relief campaign. A source close to the actor told mid-day, “He connected with the Salman Khan Fan Club (SKFC) Assam and planned a phased process to aid those affected.” The first phase includes food, water, and essential supplies, while ration kits, medicines, and the rebuilding of schools and hospitals will follow.
Bhumi Pednekkar has also urged people across the country to come forward and support those affected by the devastating floods in Assam. Highlighting the scale of the disaster, Bhumi said in a video on Instagram that lakhs of people have been displaced, several lives have been lost, and entire villages have been washed away. She urged everyone to help by donating supplies such as food, mattresses, sanitation essentials, and evacuation support.
