Actor Jatin Sarna is currently enjoying a successful phase in his career, thanks to a string of interesting projects across films and OTT platforms. However, the journey wasn`t always easy. In an exclusive conversation with Mid-day, the actor reflected on the difficult period when work was scarce, the challenges of waiting for the right opportunities, and how projects like MoMaCu helped reignite his career.
Jatin Sarna opens up about the lull phase
Talking about the lull phase before his recent successes, Jatin admitted that the uncertainty of an actor`s life can be overwhelming. “There was no release before that except for the last film Sikandar. So I waited also for all of this to happen. I think the wait is the most toughest part especially for an actor where some days you are only working. This is the only problem I feel as an actor,” he said.
The actor explained that the long gaps between projects can be emotionally draining. “The waiting time is too long. If you are an actor, if you are an artist, especially in the acting field, you have to be facing the camera every day. That should be the thing but it`s not possible.”
Despite the challenges, Jatin believes the experience has shaped him positively. “It has made me more wiser to understand the art. I`m not saying that I`ve learned everything. I`m still learning and still evolving. It has made me more hungry and patient at the same time to wait for the right moment to act right.”
Jatin also revealed that he enjoys experimenting with different characters. Referring to one of his recent projects, he said, “I`m trying different roles and trying different characters. Like the last release of this year was mine Na Jane Kaun Aa Gaya. I`m playing a very different role. Something that I have not played so far.”
One of the highlights of his career has been working with veteran star Madhuri Dixit in Maa Behen. Calling it a dream come true, Jatin said, “Madhuri ma`am, it was a dream come true to work with her in the film.” He added, “I admired them as a whole of my life, but I never thought that I`ll be part of their films and playing pivotal roles. So it`s just been a blessing.”
Jatin talks about MoMaCu
The actor also spoke passionately about MoMaCu a film that arrived at a crucial point in his life. Recalling how director Kuldeep Kunal approached him during a period when work had dried up, Jatin said, “When there was no work, and I was expecting someone to come up with a lead role for me, the guy, Kuldeep Kunal, writer-director, came up to me with this script and upfront told me that you are the lead of the film. The film is on your shoulders.”
The film holds special significance for Jatin. “This film means a lot to me because that was the time that I had no work. This guy came to me and said, please do this film. You will love it.”
