Govinda on Sunita Ahuja hurling abuses, says 'I take it in stride'

Govinda has responded to his wife Sunita Ahuja’s repeated public claims about his alleged extramarital affairs. In a recent interaction with ANI, the actor addressed the allegations while also speaking about his equation with Sunita and questioning whether criticising one’s own family is necessary for success.

Sunita has spoken about Govinda’s alleged affairs on several occasions, including during her recent stint on Lock Upp. The actor, however, has rejected such claims and offered his perspective on why his wife continues to discuss their personal life publicly.

Speaking about Sunita, Govinda said, “Itne pyaar se gali deti hai mujhe aur main khata bhi hoon unke haath se (She affectionately hurls abuses at me, and I just take it in stride).” He added that everyone has a role to play in another person’s journey and suggested that his family’s support has been an important part of his life and career.

“I feel that wherever people are and whatever roles the Almighty has assigned them the specific niche they occupy we wouldn’t have achieved success without them being there,” he said.

On Sunita Ahuja’s multiple affair claims

Govinda also praised Sunita for the role she has played within their family. “She has a rightful claim over the many children in our family who have now grown up. She was also kind to them,” he said.

The actor then appeared to question Sunita’s decision to speak about him publicly, particularly when discussing their personal relationship. “Is it essential to say bad mouth your own people to gain success?” Govinda asked.

He further suggested that Sunita often balances criticism with praise when speaking about him. “She offers four words of praise or perhaps the praise comes naturally and then voice a criticism. I see more love in that,” he said.

Sunita had earlier spoken candidly about Govinda during her Lock Upp appearance. Addressing relationships and infidelity, she said, “In love, you should be able to tolerate everything.” She also claimed, “Chi Chi had so many affairs in his life; well, heroes and heroines do have such things.”

Sunita added that after standing by Govinda for years, she felt she deserved to have a son like their son Yashvardhan.

Govinda and Sunita have been married since 1987. They reportedly kept their marriage private for nearly two years because of the actor’s career before making it public following the birth of their daughter, Tina Ahuja. The couple later welcomed their son, Yashvardhan Ahuja.

Govinda’s latest comments offer his perspective on the long-running discussions surrounding their marriage and Sunita’s public remarks about his alleged relationships.
