Hanuman Ansh director reacts to THIS Haiwaan actor over 'lack of support' appeal

Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s Haiwaan has struggled at the box office despite being directed by acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan. The crime thriller, a remake of Malayalam hit Oppam, opened to modest numbers and failed to gain momentum over the weekend. Amid its underwhelming theatrical run, actor Mohit Raj, who plays a supporting role, took to Instagram with an emotional appeal. He revealed that none of his close friends and loved ones had watched the film yet, urging them to support it by watching it in theatres.

Mohit Raj makes an emotional appeal over lack of support

Mohit Raj took to his Instagram handle sharing a video where he appealed his friends and followers to support Haiwaan. Mohit played the character of Albert in Akshay-Saif starrer. In the video, he said, “Haal hi mein release hui Haiwaan jismein Saif Ali Khan aur Akshay Kumar hai, usmein ek choti bhumika meri bhi hai. Main ek baat kehna chahungi. Uss film ko release hue chaar din ho chuke hai, par mere kisi bhi dost ne yeh movie nahi dekhi. Bada ajeeb sa lag raha hai, bura lag raha hai kyunki yeh voh log hai joh well-wishers bante hai aur kehte hai tere saath hai, support karte hai aur kal ko jab star ban jayega, hume bhulna mat.”

Hanuman Ansh director extends support

Mohit broke down in tears as he revealed that it took him a decade to bag a role in such a huge film in the industry, despite that the people who he thought were closest to him didn’t support. He said, “I feel terrible, all I am requesting that you all should watch the film. I know, not everyone will watch the film but at least the ones who are close to me, the ones who know me should support me a little in this journey.” Hanuman Ansh director Vishal Chaturvedi was one of the first ones to react to his video and he extended support, he wrote, “I will watch haiwaan movie for you Mohit.” Further, even netizens commented on his post extending support and promising him that they would watch the film for him. 

Haiwaan opened in theatres on September 11 with an India net collection of Rs 3 crore. The Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan-starrer witnessed a decline in earnings on the following days, collecting Rs 2.50 crore on Day 2 and Rs 1.85 crore on Sunday. The film’s business dropped sharply on Monday, when it earned Rs 70 lakh, and remained at the same figure on Tuesday. According to Sacnilk, Haiwaan has registered an India net collection of Rs 8.75 crore so far. Its gross collection stands at Rs 10.46 crore after completing five days of its theatrical run.
