Noida International Airport to start commercial flights from June 15

Noida International Airport is set to begin commercial flight operations from June 15, marking a major milestone for one of India’s most ambitious greenfield aviation projects. The announcement was made on Friday by airport authorities, signalling the start of passenger services in the National Capital Region.

IndiGo to operate first flight; more airlines to follow

According to officials, IndiGo will operate the inaugural passenger flight from the airport. This will be followed by services from Akasa Air and Air India Express, expanding connectivity options soon after operations begin.

Authorities said flight schedules, destinations and passenger service details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Regulatory approvals in place ahead of launch

The airport has received clearance for its Aerodrome Security Programme from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, confirming that its safety and operational systems meet all regulatory requirements.

The development follows the inauguration of the airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paving the way for the commencement of commercial services.

Designed to ease air traffic in NCR

Developed to meet the growing demand for air travel in the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh, the airport has been equipped with modern infrastructure, efficient operational systems and multimodal connectivity.

Officials said the facility is designed to provide a seamless passenger experience while ensuring cost-effective and reliable operations for airlines.

Capacity to expand significantly in phases

At launch, the airport will operate with one runway and a passenger terminal capable of handling around 12 million passengers annually. Over time, the airport is expected to expand its capacity to more than 70 million passengers per year in a phased manner, according to its long-term master plan.

The airport, with IATA code DXN, is expected to connect the greater Delhi region and western Uttar Pradesh to key domestic and international destinations.

Boost to regional economy and sustainability goals

Authorities said the start of operations will enhance regional connectivity and support economic growth, trade, tourism and investment across the region.

Described as a world-class facility, the airport integrates advanced infrastructure with passenger-focused services and commercial amenities. It also aims to achieve net-zero emissions through sustainable design and environmentally responsible operations, aligning with broader climate goals.

With the launch date now confirmed, Noida International Airport is poised to become a key aviation hub in northern India, easing congestion at existing airports while driving regional development.
