Rakhee Gulzar is not here for the unnecessary noise around Aamir Khan`s wedding, and she has made that very clear. As the buzz around the superstar`s upcoming wedding to Gauri Spratt continues to dominate timelines, the legendary and famously reclusive actress stepped out of her quiet world to speak to Variety India, and what she said was warm, wise and absolutely spot on.
“I am not in touch with the goings-on in the film industry, nor have I worked with Aamir Khan,” she said. “But I do know he is a very sincere person. And I love the way he has maintained his friendship with his two wives even after the marriages. It says a lot about him.” High praise from someone who rarely speaks to the press and even more meaningful because of it.

On the criticism surrounding Aamir`s decision to marry for the third time at 61, Rakhee was equally direct. She pointed to Hollywood legend Robert De Niro, married twice and now in a relationship with partner Tiffany Chen, with whom he welcomed a daughter in 2023 when he was in his eighties. “Happiness in a marriage is not about age,” she said firmly. And then, in the most personal touch of all, she added, “I got married when Gulzar was almost 40.” The couple went on to build a beautiful life and welcome their daughter, acclaimed filmmaker Meghna Gulzar. Enough said.
Aamir Khan confirms marriage with Gauri Spratt
As for the man at the centre of it all, Aamir has been refreshingly open about the whole thing. Confirming the news while travelling in the US, he told Variety India simply, “The news about the marriage is true. It`s on July 5. Now we both feel we are ready to take our relationship to the next level.” Aamir first introduced Gauri to the public on his 60th birthday in 2025, revealing they had known each other for 25 years before reconnecting about a year and a half ago. This will be his third marriage, following his first to Reena Dutta in 1986 and his second to filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005. He shares a warm and cordial bond with both his ex-wives to this day, something Rakhee herself pointed out as a true mark of the man`s character.
