Thai actor apologises after being called out for Bollywood gestures on TV

A fun guessing game on a Thai television show turned controversial after many Indian fans slammed Thai actor Fourth Nattawat Jirochtikul. The incident happened during Fourth and Gemini Norawit Titicharoenrak’s appearance on A Thai Late-Night Show, hosted by Katanyu Sawangsri. Following the backlash, the actor has now apologised on social media.

Fourth Nattawat apologises

During a round of charades on the show, Fourth allegedly made exaggerated gestures while trying to guess the words “Bollywood Hero”. His gestures left several Indian viewers offended. Gemini also faced backlash for laughing during the segment.

Fourth has now addressed the controversy via a post on X on October 8, 2026. He stated that he had never intended to mock any race, while also apologising to Indian fans who were offended by his actions. The actor further reiterated his support for equality and diversity, noting that the gestures were part of a game. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that his intentions did not negate the impact his actions may have had on viewers.

In his apology, Fourth said, “I have always affirmed and supported equality and diversity, and I always will. I truly assure you that I had no intention and no thought of mocking any race whatsoever. I sincerely maintain that it was merely part of playing a game. However, I want to apologise from the bottom of my heart if any of my actions hurt the feelings of anyone, whoever they may be, and especially the Indian fans. This will serve as an important lesson for me to improve my behaviour moving forward.”

About the incident

During the segment in the show, Fourth was blindfolded and was asked to guess ‘Bollywood Hero’, while Gemini helped him figure out the clue without saying the words. As Gemini used gestures to guide him, Fourth responded with exaggerated head movements, outstretched arms and dramatic expressions. Fourth also sang ‘Dhoom Machale’ while trying to guess the answer, but was unable to get it right.

A clip of the segment drew criticism from Indian viewers. Many on the internet felt the gestures reinforced stereotypes about Indian dance and culture. Meanwhile, many argued that the issue was not the format of the game , but the way Indian culture was represented during the segment.
