Actor Ranveer Singh, who is usually quite friendly during public appearances, appeared quiet on Tuesday morning as he was photographed at the Mumbai Airport. His appearance came hours after he was reportedly banned by Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) over the Don 3 controversy.
Ranveer Singh`s first appearance after ban
Early Tuesday morning, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh was spotted arriving at Mumbai airport, dressed sharply in a white kurta and a black jacket. He was also seen wearing a black face mask. The actor quietly stepped out of his car and walked towards the gate without interacting with the paparazzi. His appearance came hours after a ban was imposed on him by the FWICE which has over four lakh members.
On Monday, FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer in connection with the Don 3 matter, claiming that he failed to respond to repeated requests to appear before the body and discuss the issue despite being sent three reminders.
The decision comes more than a month after Farhan Akhtar reportedly approached the federation with a complaint regarding Ranveer’s exit from Don 3, which was announced by Excel Entertainment in August 2023 with a teaser introducing the actor as the new Don.
According to reports, Farhan alleged in his complaint that Ranveer Singh withdrew from the project just three weeks before the film’s unit was scheduled to begin shooting, resulting in significant financial losses for the production house.
Ranveer Singh’s reply to FWICE directive
In a statement shared by the actor’s spokesperson, it was said, “Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity, and mutual respect.”
The statement further read, “While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture. His focus remains firmly on his work and the commitments ahead.”
The spokesperson also added that the actor has chosen to exercise “restraint” amid the Don 3 controversy.
