Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently in Rome for his official trip, has taken the internet by storm after his videos and pictures with Italy`s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni surfaced on social media. However, one video, in particular, has gone viral on the internet, wherein Meloni reveals that PM Modi gifted her a packet of Melody toffee.

The `Melodi` phenomenon refers to a portmanteau combining the names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Giorgia Meloni. It has often been used by social media users to joke about their light-hearted interactions at global platforms.
The viral `Melodi` trend initially gained momentum after Meloni herself posted a selfie on X during the COP28 summit in Dubai. Sharing a photo, she captioned it, “Good friends at COP28, Melodi”. Until that post, Melodi was just a meme hashtag used by Internet users in India.
On Wednesday, sharing a video of their fun moment, Meloni said, “Prime Minister Modi brought us a gift, a very, very good toffee, Melody,” after which both the leaders shared a laugh during the interaction. In the caption, she further added, “Thank you for the gift.”
Celebrities react to the viral video
After the video was shared by Meloni on her Instagram, it soon went viral online with internet users erupting with comments and memes. Among them were celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Bhumi Pednekkar, Bipasha Basu, Unni Mukundan, Uorfi Javed and several others who reacted to the post by liking it.
Bhumi Pednekkar also reportedly commented on the video and wrote, “Living for this (sic).” Screenshots of the same were shared online.
Similarly, Bollywood actress Kriti Kharbanda also joined the light-hearted meme fest on social media with a cheeky post. The Shaadi Nein Zaroor Aana actress shared a string of pictures of herself dressed in a glittery outfit with an earthy hue. The colour of her outfit replicated the tones of the iconic Indian chewy toffee. Joining in the current Melody trend, she wrote in the caption, “Yeh melody itni chocolatey kyun hai.” The line has been a famous tagline of the toffee for years.
