Industry chatter suggests Sanjay Leela Bhansali is reviving ‘Inshallah’, with Shah Rukh Khan reportedly stepping in after ‘King’. The project, first announced with Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt, is said to be reworked into a mature romance, with Alia likely retained opposite SRK. We have learnt that the film now explores a more layered love story. The casting has sparked online debate, with some questioning the age gap and anticipating limited chemistry, while others remain curious about SLB’s reimagined take.
Why the film was stalled
Announced in 2019, ‘Inshallah’ was shelved after reported creative differences between SLB and Salman Khan. The actor is believed to have preferred a massy Eid entertainer, while the filmmaker envisioned a more intense, intimate romance, leading to the project being put on hold.

Hansika Motwani has found herself at the centre of an online storm after commenting on the casting couch, stating she could not speak on the issue as she has never faced it. During a recent interview, she suggested that those focused on “genuine work” may not encounter such situations, while admitting she lacks personal awareness of it.

Earlier this month, mid-day had reported that Mohit Suri would reunite Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda for a romantic drama backed by Yash Raj Films (Gen Z sweethearts are back, April 15). The film is now reportedly titled Satranga, though we have learnt it remains a working title, with rights currently held by T-Series. Described as a twisted musical romance, the project is expected to go on floors later this year, targeting a 2027 release.
No vanilla for me, please

Actor Jaideep Ahlawat says he always looks to go beyond the tropes of a typical hero and villain role by adding layers to even “vanilla characters”. Known for his work in titles like Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012), Raees (2017), Raazi (2018), Pataal Lok (2020), An Action Hero (2022), Maharaj (2024), and The Family Man 3 (2025) among others, he said has little interest in playing one-dimensional roles. “I’ve not got to play a vanilla character yet. I feel when the character has more layers, then it becomes much more interesting to essay that role, as compared to single dimensional character. So, if there aren’t any layers, I try to put elements or layers in a character to make it look believable as an actor,” the actor told PTI in an interview at an event in Mumbai.
