As Batwara 1947 continues its lukewarm run at the box office following its August 14 release, recently repors emerged about tensions between Sunny Deol and the film’s producer, Aamir Khan. Some reports claimed that the two had differences over the film’s OTT deal, causing a fallout between them. However, director Rajkumar Santoshi has now dismissed the reports.
Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol clashed over Batwara 1947 OTT deal?
Recent reports claimed that Aamir Khan, who backed Sunny-starrer Batwara 1947 through his production house, Aamir Khan Productions, had rejected an OTT deal for the film worth around Rs 60 crore. However, the decision allegedly did not go down well with the film’s lead actor, Sunny.
The difference in opinion sparked speculation of tension between the two. Given that the two stars have a long history of being pitted against each other, the reports soon turned into rumours of a fresh rivalry between Aamir and Sunny.
Rajkumar Santoshi reacts
Rajkumar Santoshi has now refuted the speculation, while questioning why every disagreement involving celebrities has to turn into a full-blown controversy. During an exclusive chat with India Today, the veteran filmmaker was asked about the alleged rift, to which he instantly shook his head. He went on to say, “I will tell you what the problem is. Every person who has a phone has become a critic, has become a journalist today. Every man, any man, he can judge the film, he can judge a person, he can give his opinions, he has a viewpoint.”
The filmmaker clarified that there is nothing bad between the two stars. “All well between them. All well. They are very mature people. Aamir Khan is a very big achiever. Sunny is an achiever. Why will they talk on these petty things?” he shared.
Earlier, the filmmaker has also clarified that Sunny Deol is not playing a Pakistani man in Batwara 1947.
During the chat, Santoshi also addressed the possibility of Ghatak 2 with Sunny Deol. Although he remained tight-lipped if the sequel is happening, he did mention that another action film with Sunny is already in the works. “Too early to talk about it. But we are making an action film with Sunny. It’s going to be a very good action film,” he shared.
