Sanjay Nirupam questions AIMIM link in sheltering accused

After an AIMIM leader was booked for allegedly sheltering one of the accused in the Nashik TCS case, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam, on Monday questioned the alleged links between the Asaduddin Owaisi-led party and a key accused in the TCS Nashik case, the IANS reported.

Nirupam alleged that the probe has “gradually exposed” the AIMIM link in allegedly sheltering one of the accused.

Speaking with the press, Sanjay Nirupam alleged that a “corporate jihad” had taken place in TCS Nashik, the news agency reported.

He said that the accused, identified as Nida Khan, had managed to evade the Maharashtra Police for nearly 40 days despite continuous search operations.

According to the IANS, Nirupam further asserted, “The activities of AIMIM in Nashik are gradually being exposed. A ‘corporate jihad’ took place in TCS Nashik, and the main accused, Nida Khan, was evading Maharashtra Police for almost 40 days. Maharashtra Police continued operations to trace her. Eventually, she was found in a house in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. It was revealed that the house belonged to an AIMIM worker. So, was she being given protection by AIMIM members?”

The former Rajya Sabha member further alleged that the discovery of Khan at the residence of an AIMIM worker had raised serious concerns and demanded a thorough probe into whether local party members had knowingly sheltered her during the period she was absconding, as per the IANS.

The Shiv Sena leader said, “The Maharashtra Police had worked persistently to track the accused and asserted that the latest revelations warranted deeper scrutiny into any political links that may have aided her evasion.”

However, there has been no official response from AIMIM leaders after the arrest of Nida Khan from Nashik earlier last week.

The case has triggered political reactions in Maharashtra, with the allegations likely to intensify debate over law and order as well as the alleged misuse of political networks to shield accused persons.

AIMIM leader allegedly sheltered Khan, her family

According to police officials, local (AIMIM) corporator Matin Patel allegedly harboured Khan and her family in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for days, reported the IANS.

After the police officials developed suspicion, questioning of AIMIM leader Patel led to Khan`s arrest. Furthermore, the AIMIM leader has also been named as an accused in the case for allegedly providing shelter to Khan.

The officials, while briefing about her arrest, said that along with Nida, her father Ejaj Bashir (52), mother Nilofar Ejaj (44), brother Mohammad Ejaj (20), and aunt Noorjehan Sheikh Ali (44) were also with her.
