Delhi Court expresses displeasure as Nora Fatehi fails to appear
A Delhi court has expressed displeasure over actor Nora Fatehi’s non-appearance in the Sukesh Chandrasekhar extortion case, observing that the court cannot be taken lightly. The court pulled up her counsel and said that she was a witness and was supposed to be here. “Her conduct is not up to the mark. Don’t take the court for granted,” the court stated.
The court then asked the counsel when she was summoned. He replied that she was informed on October 29. During the hearing, Delhi Police informed the court that Nora Fatehi had been summoned, but they had no information on whether she was coming or not. Her counsel appeared and moved a plea seeking exemption. Special Judge Gagandeep Singh issued fresh summons to Nora Fatehi. The court has directed her to appear on November 6.
About Sukesh’s money laundering case
The case relates to allegations that Chandrasekhar, while lodged in Delhi’s Rohini Jail, impersonated senior government officials and allegedly extorted around Rs 200 crore from Aditi Singh, wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh, during 2020-21. Fatehi was earlier questioned by the EOW in connection with her alleged association with Chandrasekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paulose. Police had recorded her statement under Section 164 of the CrPC and subsequently named her as a prosecution witness in the supplementary chargesheet.
A Delhi court has summoned actor Nora Fatehi as a witness in an extortion case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. In an order dated October 16, Additional Sessions Judge Gagandeep Singh said, “Issue summons to Nora Fatehi alias Naura Fatehi (Listed Witness or LW 3 in 3rd Supplementary chargesheet) for the said date (November 2).”
While Nora is a witness, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) named Jacqueline as an accused in its chargesheet after finding that she had received luxury gifts (including designer bags, diamond jewellery, cars, and pets) purchased from the proceeds of Sukesh’s fraud. Jacqueline claimed she was misled by Sukesh, who allegedly impersonated a media tycoon.
