Actor Tahir Raj Bhasin, who recently impressed the audience with his complex character in Shaque: Trust No One alongside Parineeti Chopra, is already gearing up for his next. The actor will next be seen in Pal Bhar Ke Liye, which marks the Hindi directorial debut of ace fashion designer Vikram Phadnis. Bhasin spoke to mid-day about his stint with the director and also spilled some beans on his character in the film.
Tahir Raj Bhasin on his Pal Bhar Ke Liye character
Tahir says Pal Bhar Ke Liye is a very heartfelt, emotional story. He adds, “It deals with mental health, but told in a very endearing, approachable way. And it is a story inspired by Vikram Phadnis’ own family, so it is a very personal story to him. And he’s making a Hindi directorial debut.”
Further talking about his role, Tahir, who made his debut as the villain in Mardaani, shares, “I was incredibly humbled when he approached me to play the hero in his film because it’s not the kind of part that I had ever done before. Because it is an emotional drama, it’s a softer shade of character. I was really fortunate to be part of a script like that”
Talking of the film’s response at international film festivals, Bhasin expresses his excitement, saying, “I’m excited for the Indian audience to watch it soon. It was screened at Melbourne recently, and it was really well appreciated at the Melbourne Film Festival. So I can’t wait for the audience here to watch it as soon as possible.”
Tahir Raj Bhasin on working with Vikram Phadnis
Tahir also opened up about working with Vikram Phadnis, the designer as a director. Tahir, who wrapped up the project in March, shares, “He is exactly as he is as a designer. He’s into the details, he knows how to create drama, and he knows the value of aesthetics. He brings all of those skills from his design work into direction.”
He further adds, “With every new director that you work with, it takes a couple of days to get into the same rhythm. But with Vikram, it took very little time. He absolutely knew his character and the world of his film so well that it was actually a joy to work with him. And I really hope that this is the first of many for him as a director.”
